How To Finding Your Dream Car

Written by admin on 11:32 AM

Thinking about buying a used car? How do you know which car is right for you? It’s all in asking the right questions.

First, ask yourself what you really need in a car. Who will be driving it most of the time? Where will you be driving in? Over what sort of terrain? Do you need a lot of storage space and lots of seating? Are you going to be traveling back and forth over long distances?

What features are an absolute must? Air conditioning, adjustable controls, cruise control?

What safety features you are looking for? Anti-lock brake systems, head injury protection, or child protection equipment?

How much are you willing to spend?

What kind of down payment can you make?

Realistically, what can you afford to pay monthly?

It’s important to know this amount before you even start looking. Then do your research. Check websites, dealerships, and Consumer Reports magazine. Look for reliability and repair ratings as well as safety advice. The website www.edmunds.com offers pricing information and advice on buying a used car.

Go exploring for that perfect car. Gather as much info as you can on the different makes and models. Check out the retail value, available options, performance, and track record for repairs.

No matter where you buy your used car, be prepared to stand firm. There are a bazillion other cars you could fall in love with. Be willing to walk away from the car if the deal doesn't meet the criteria you laid out earlier. Your ability to negotiate a great deal will increase by leaps and bounds.

Always know the market value of any car you're considering and make your first offer lower. You want a little room to negotiate.

Ask for a detailed vehicle history report and service records from the seller. This report can identify major problems including past accidents, flood damage, and odometer discrepancies. When you decide to buy a car, make sure you get it checked out by a trusted mechanic before you hand over any money. That’s absolutely crucial.

Buying a used car can be one of the most exciting purchases you ever make. Following a few guidelines will ensure that it’s also one of the wisest!

Geneva 2008: Toyota unveils Urban Cruiser

Written by admin on 7:11 PM

Geneva, ToyotaThe new model is aimed firmly at the urban all-road market, where European sales have almost doubled since 2002. Scheduled to go on sale in the EU during the first half of 2009, it responds to customer demand for stylish SUVs with lower fuel bills and CO2 emissions: Urban Cruiser is expected to come in below the 140g/km emissions benchmark.

Urban Cruiser draws on Toyota’s rich history of SUVs, which began in 1951 with the launch of the legendary Land Cruiser and went on to feature the landmark RAV4 in 1994 – the model which created the European compact SUV market.

The new Urban Cruiser is designed as an aspirational urban SUV that is very close in spirit to the discontinued three-door RAV4 with its compact dimensions, clever packaging, practicality and four-wheel drive transmission.

Muscular Styling

Urban Cruiser has the rugged, muscular appearance expected of an SUV, but with five-door practicality and compact dimensions that make it suitable for driving around town. It measures 3,930mm long, 1,725mm wide and 1,540 tall, with spacious accommodation for five inside, plus ample luggage space.
Geneva, Toyota
A high belt line, additional bumper protection, prominent lower door sills and pronounced wheel arches give the vehicle a robust appearance. The headlamps flow back from the front grille, out towards the wings, further accentuating the car’s wide and tough road stance.

Turn indicators are recessed into the door mirrors and the rear lamp units extend into the rear wings and tailgate. The show car is fitted with five-spoke 17-inch alloy wheels and a special Ice Blue paint finish.

Urban Cruiser will play a significant role in cutting the overall emissions of Toyota’s model range to an average 140g/km by 2009.

Getting The Best Automotive Service

Written by admin on 8:58 AM

Just as clear communication between you and your doctor can equal better care for your body, communicating carefully with your mechanic means the best care for your body of your car!

When you think about it, you know your car better than anyone else. You drive it every day and know how it feels and sounds when everything is right. So don't ignore its warning signals. If something doesn’t feel quite right, get your car checked out.

The following tips should help you along the way:

“Preventative Medicine”

Follow the recommended service schedules.

Keep a log of all repairs and service.

Check your car for:

* unusual sounds
* odors
* drips
* leaks
* smoke
* warning lights
* changes in acceleration
* changes in engine performance
* changes in gas mileage
* changes in fluid levels
* worn tires, belts, hoses.
* difficulty in handling, braking, steering
* unusual vibrations

When there is a problem…

# Write the information/symptoms down to give to your repairman.
# When did the problem first start?
# Exactly when does the problem occur?
# Is it constant or does it occur now and again?
# Does the problem happen when the vehicle is cold or after the engine has warmed up?
# Is the problem noticeable when you accelerate? When you brake?
# At all speeds? When shifting?

Remember to let the technician diagnose and recommend a remedy, even if you think you
already know what the problem is. Plus, it’s important not to demand an on-the-spot diagnosis. The technician needs to thoroughly examine the vehicle before knowing what’s really going on.

Stay involved. And don’t be shy about asking as many questions as you need to understand the problem. Mechanical terminology can be confusing to the layperson.
Ask for simple definitions of technical terms you’re not familiar with.

It’s hard to be patient, as most of us feel completely incapacitated without our vehicles. Make sure you ask to be called and informed of the problem, recommended action, and costs BEFORE work begins.

Before you leave, ask about labor rates, guarantees, and what methods of payment are
acceptable.

Leave a telephone number where you can be called.

The information you share with your auto technician will enable him to more easily locate the problem, diagnose it, and repair any damage. Then you and your car will be on the road again!

How To Choose And Buy A Car

Written by admin on 2:56 PM

When you set out to buy a car, the first thing you want to do is research. Determine what kind of car you want, starting from whether you want a car, a minivan, or an SUV. Do you want a hybrid or electric car? A hybrid car has an electric motor as well as a gas motor, which definitely makes them more fuel efficient than a regular gas car. An electric car runs off a fuel cell- there are many new buses that run off fuel cells.

In choosing a car, you want to think about reliability, prestige, cargo space, and perhaps color. It really depends on what is important to you and what you need.

When you go to the dealership keep in mind the kind of car you want. A dealer might try to steer you towards a more expensive version of the car, or even a different car altogether if you are not specific about what you want. Dealers do not always have your best interests in mind, but they do want you to be happy, so if you stay firm, you will get what you want.

You may want to consider whether you want to lease or buy a car, a decision which really depends on how often you buy a new car. A used car may also be the best choice for you, especially considering how quickly cars depreciate. A car that has been leased for 6 months can be worth considerably less than the same model year car that has been sitting on the lot. A two year old car can be much less expensive, while still being under warranty, as well as having many of the kinks worked out and any recalls having been done.

Alfa 8C Spider debuts at Geneva Motor Show

Few supercars this century have captured the public’s imagination like the awesome Alfa 8C Competizione. That is, until now.

Just as the delivery schedule is being finalised on the 41 models destined for the UK, Alfa Romeo will unveil its stunning convertible version, the exquisite Alfa 8C Spider at next month’s Geneva Motor Show.
Alfa 8C

Visually arresting from every angle, the Alfa 8C Spider looks every inch a supercar, and under the bonnet the same 4.7 litre V8 as in the 8C coupe produces 450bhp, which is channelled through a sophisticated 6-speed F1-style paddle shift gearbox to the rear wheels.

Inside the carbon fibre cockpit, a dashboard-mounted button effortlessly transforms the perfectly cosseted cabin of the Alfa 8C Spider into a sublime open top GT cruiser. Constructed from two layers of fabric, the roof creates a perfectly weatherproof, acoustically comfortable passenger environment.

For added individuality, the roof can also be personalised in various colours to suit the body colour of the vehicle.

Like its coupe stablemate, production of the Alfa 8C Spider will be limited to 500 units, and just like its coupe counterpart it is expected to sell out within weeks of being announced.

Almost too good for going off-road: HAMANN Range Rover Sport

Written by admin on 3:09 AM

HAMANN, Reviews,
HAMANN has no taboos. Anyone who thinks that an off-road car is not suitable for cruising around in and should always remain untouched for off-road driving, should stop reading here. Fortunately, however, HAMANN and most drivers of a Range Rover Sport see things differently. After all, they do tend to drive mostly on tarmac rather than through forests and across open countryside.

* Aerodynamic body kit, sports brakes system & new exhaust system
* Engine tuning up to 349 kW/475 bhp and 610 Nm thanks to sports kit
* Various wheel sets in 20, 22 and 23 inch models

To ensure that the performance on tarmac with such a heavy vehicle as the Range Rover doesn't disappoint, HAMANN starts out by tuning the engine. Both with the 2.7 liter V6 Diesel and the 4.4 liter V8, the Laupheim-based tuning specialist optimizes the characteristic maps. By recalibrating the series ECU, the Diesel generates 165 kW/225 bhp at 4000 rpm, the torque being a solid 510 Nm even at 1900 rpm. Following the modification, the 4.4 liter naturally aspirated engine generates an impressive 238 kW/323 bhp at 5500 rpm and 450 Nm at 4000 rpm. Look out export customers - the HAMANN SPORTKIT for the series V8 supercharged engine turns the Range Rover Sport into a real racer! To achieve the power boost to 349 kW/475 bhp at 5740 rpm and the maximum torque of 610 Nm at 3500 rpm, a number of tuning measures are required. In addition to optimized characteristic maps, HAMANN modifies the supercharger ratio and installs a sports high-performance header, sports metal catalytic converters and a sports rear muffler.

The latter emphasizes the sound of the newly acquired power. HAMANN offers the 4-pipe sports rear muffler with round stainless steel tailpipes (diameter 90 mm each) also independently of the power boost for all V8 engine configurations. For the 4.4i V8, a sports high-performance header and sports metal catalytic converters are also available (both exclusively for export).

Otherwise committed to the British sense of understatement, when equipped with its new aerodynamic body kit, the HAMANN Range Rover Sport speaks a different language. For instance, HAMANN fits a far sportier front apron with two integrated high beams and a pair of fog lights. HAMANN adorns the sides with side sills, whilst at the rear end, a rear apron provides the counter pole to the front spoiler. A roof spoiler allows the Range Rover Sport to run more smoothly at higher speeds. To complete the picture, HAMANN fits air inlet trims from carbon fiber.

To ensure that this juggernaut also stops quicker, HAMANN equips a sports braking system on the front axle, thus making a significant contribution to the safety. The system itself consists of two slotted and inside-vented brake discs in the dimension 380x34mm, two HAMANN eight-piston fixed caliper brakes in red (other colors available subject to an extra charge) plus special brake pads and Stahlflex brake pipes.

Rims in 20 to 23 inch models

As usual, HAMANN customers are spoilt for choice when it comes to wheel rims. The Laupheim specialists are offering no fewer than four designs.
Since large cars only look good with large wheels, HAMANN offers both designs PG3 and ANNIVERSARY I in 22 inch versions. The Laupheim car customizer fits the PG3 wheel, a composite rim, in the ‘Silver' edition with a high-gloss varnished rim flange. The large 10.5x22 rim with a sporty five-spoke design is available from HAMANN also as a complete set of wheels fitted with tires in the dimension 295/30 ZR22 or 315/30 ZR22. The ANNIVERSARY I is a single-piece rim with a multi-spoke design which conveys a sense of lightness of foot. HAMANN supplies them in the ‘Silver' edition with an INOX stainless steel lip adorning the flange. It is possible to fit this rim with the same tire sizes as the PG3.
For export, HAMANN also offers the ANNIVERSARY I rim as a 20 inch version, the ANNIVERSARY II as a 22 inch version and, as the highlight of the rim range for the Range Rover Sport, the ANNIVERSARY RACE rim in a chunky 23 inch design (10.5x23).

The stylish HAMANN rims harmonize beautifully with the electronically lowered suspension, which lowers the body of the Range Rover Sport by 40 mm at the front and by 30 mm at the rear, thus bringing the car closer to the road.

Anyone who knows HAMANN will also know that they don't stop at the exterior. Accordingly, these tuning specialists from Southern Germany are also experts in tuning the interiors of cars. For instance, a car is given a motor racing touch by fitting an 8-piece carbon fiber interior set, which includes a decorative trim (4 piece) for the center console and door surrounds for the front and rear. The pedals are also adapted in keeping with the sporty look, with these being replaced by aluminum counterparts. A driver's footrest is also available in aluminum. And the exclusive set of HAMANN foot mats by no means marks the end of the interior tuning. Since, needless to say, HAMANN will customize any Range Rover Sport to suit each customer's individual requests. By way of example, lavish leather upholsteries in various colors are possible, as are extensive multimedia conversions featuring a DVD, TV or Playstation.

Jaguar XJ for 2008
The 2008 Model Year XJ revealed today at the Geneva Motor Show has again raised the standard for luxury cars offering customers a range of visual changes, technological advances and additional features on all models.

The flagship of the Jaguar range, the XJ continues to be respected and admired by customers throughout the world. Already renowned for its all-aluminium body construction, state-of-the-art technologies, outstanding craftsmanship and build quality, the new XJ is now even more desirable. Since its launch, the model line-up has been extended to include the XJ long wheelbase, the special edition XJR Portfolio, the XJ armoured vehicle and the recently introduced XJ long wheelbase diesel.

A range of four engines – from the highly acclaimed 2.7-litre twin-turbo V6 diesel engine that offers outstanding performance and economy, through to the mighty 4.2-litre supercharged V8, gives customers a choice of rewarding powertrains. Every XJ has automatic transmission and includes many of Jaguar's latest technical features, and of course craftsmanship and quality are high on the list of attributes.

An all-new, distinctive design for the XJ’s front includes a new bumper with revised upper and lower mesh grilles and a new Jaguar Growler badge, giving the 2008 model an unmistakably purposeful appearance. This look is complemented by new side power vents to match those introduced on the beautiful XK, lower body sills and a subtle rear aero spoiler. Over the vents new door mirrors carry integrated indicator lights while upgraded alloy wheels add to the sporting appearance of the 2008 Model Year cars. A 19-inch Carelia wheel is now standard on the Executive models, while all Sovereign models now feature the new 19-inch Polaris wheel. The top-of-the-range XJR now comes with aluminium finish power vents and black painted brake callipers. Additionally, customers will benefit from six new exterior paint colours to choose from for all models – Emerald Fire, Pearl Grey, Crystal Blue, Botanical Green, Vapour Grey and Azure Blue.

The 2008 Model Year XJ also enjoys significant improvements to its interior thanks to new heated front seats standard across the range which have been extensively redesigned to offer even more comfort and support. All Executive models now come with a heated front screen as standard while the XJR features an ‘R’ gearknob as well as heated front seats with air-cooling, an optional choice for the Executive, Sovereign and Sport Premium models. Rear-seat passengers will appreciate greater leg and foot room following revisions to the backs and lower cushions of the front seats. All 2008 Model Year cars feature an upgraded BluetoothTM Connectivity system that allows users to connect up to five approved mobile phones to the car’s own in-car telephone system.

UK Managing Director, Geoff Cousins, said: “XJ sales results in 2006 showed a 25% increase versus 2005 and with these specification enhancements, our customers can benefit from an even better value-for-money proposition. The long wheelbase XJ is now available with a 2.7-litre diesel engine making it an even stronger competitor in the ever-growing chauffeur market and even though an all-new Mercedes S-Class has been launched this year, Business Car readers voted the XJ ‘Luxury Car of the Year’ for the second year running.”

Excellent value-for-money across the range
Enhancements to the XJ product range in the UK simplify the line-up to four trim levels, all offering customers improved value-for-money: Executive, Sovereign, Sport Premium and XJR.

XJ Executive (2.7-litre diesel and 3.0-litre petrol) – The entry level to the range will be the 2.7 diesel and 3.0 petrol Executive models. In addition to the other changes being made to the whole range, these cars now feature a heated front screen as standard, body-coloured power vents and 19” Carelia wheels – a ten-spoke alloy first seen on the XK. Importantly the XJ 08MY Executive models remain competitively priced with the 3.0 petrol starting from £43,540 and the 2.7 diesel from £45,520.

JAGUAR XJ IN DETAIL: A FINE PEDIGREE
When Jaguar’s ground-breaking all-aluminium XJ luxury saloon range was launched in 2003, its remarkable lightweight body helped the car to set new standards in handling, precision and refinement. The aluminium monocoque design is 60% stiffer and 40% lighter than the model it replaced and these major improvements translate into real customer benefits.

Its advanced construction means that even a long-wheelbase XJ model is lighter than many of its key competitors’ standard wheelbase platforms. Thanks to that reduced weight the car can accelerate faster, stop more quickly and turn more purposefully. And it achieves all this without compromise in other areas, for the new XJ range also benefits from superb fuel economy and range, improved rigidity and safety, as well as exceptional ride and comfort.
Since its 2003 introduction the range has been further improved with a long wheelbase version, major new engines such as the 2.7-litre twin-turbo V6 diesel, and advanced technologies such as acoustic laminated glass, active engine mounts and Computer Active Technology Suspension (CATS).

CATS is used to ensure outstanding body control, refinement and handling. The system constantly monitors the XJ’s lightweight suspension and air springs to offer complete comfort when cruising and total control and responsiveness when called for by automatically lowering and levelling the suspension. The result is awesome high-speed stability and improved aerodynamic efficiency whenever the XJ is called upon to perform.

A group of technologically advanced petrol and diesel engines power the 2008 XJ range. The highly acclaimed 204bhp (DIN) 2.7-litre twin-turbo diesel V6 offers outstanding performance and economy, the 240bhp (DIN) 3.0-litre V6 petrol an ideal blend of power and refinement, while the mighty 300bhp (DIN) 4.2-litre V8 and its 400bhp (DIN) supercharged equivalent provide the seamless drive and torque you would expect from any top-of-the-range Jaguar capable of reaching 60mph in as short a time as five seconds flat.

A six-speed automatic transmission provides smooth and sensationally quick gearchanges, and even helps with further weight loss thanks to its compact design. Its ability to handle the high torque outputs of the XJ engine range also allows the gearbox to use higher gears more effectively, helping to lower fuel consumption further.

Class-leading technological advances such as Integrated Acoustic Dampening (IAD) guarantee exceptional levels of refinement and a blissfully quiet cabin environment. IAD uses special acoustic absorbing materials and airtight seals between the bonnet and engine compartment to dramatically reduce engine noise. Acoustic laminated glass then further minimises noise intrusion, while diesel-powered XJs even enjoy electronically controlled active engine mounts which attenuate 90% of engine idle vibration.

Thanks to ground-breaking technologies such as these, the 2008 XJ range defies the conventional wisdom that says a saloon can be dynamic or luxurious, but never both. It is, in contrast, a highly refined, sporting luxury car for people who love to drive.

LOOKS TO MATCH THE PERFORMANCE
The main evolution for the 2008 Model Year XJ is its new exterior design. Changes to the front, sides and rear of every model give the XJ a sportier, more muscular stance and clearly signal the advanced technology that lies at its core.

A new front bumper with revised mesh grilles is unmistakably assertive, leaving no doubts as to the performance credentials of the new XJ. Jaguar Car’s Director of Design, Ian Callum, explains the inspiration behind the new look:

“Every Jaguar must have a distinctive face, something that you cannot mistake if you catch a glimpse of it in your rear-view mirror as it powers up behind you. The new 2008 XJ range meets that challenge thanks to a new grille and bold new bumper style.”

Set into the front bumper are new upper and lower mesh radiator grilles with chromed detailing that accentuate the car’s major air intakes. Behind the front wheels two power vents (in aluminium finish on the supercharged XJR) match those introduced on the beautiful new XK sports car. Over the vents new door mirrors carry integrated indicator lights.

A fully reworked rear end displays a newly reshaped bumper, subtle aero spoiler, revised tailpipe finishers and new badging.

The 2008 Model Year XJ also enjoys significant improvements to its interior thanks to new heated front seats (with optional air-cooling) which have been extensively redesigned to offer even more comfort and support.

Vehicle cabin air is drawn into the cushion and seat back heat exchanger units. The air is then heated or cooled and pumped to the top surface via channels formed within the seat. The perforated seat covers allow the conditioned air to pass through to the passenger.

Heated front seats will still be fitted as standard with the cooling element being available as an option.

All XJ seats will have a new relaxed leather trim and rear-seat passengers will appreciate greater leg and foot room following revisions to the backs and lower cushions of the front seats.

TECHNOLOGY IN HARMONY
Jaguar’s intuitive technology has been designed to empower, not overpower the driver. Features such as satellite navigation, BluetoothTM and audio entertainment systems are supported and controlled by a 7-inch Touch-screen or JaguarVoice control.

The 2008 Model Year XJ benefits from further user-friendly technology such as the latest BluetoothTM connectivity system that allows users to connect up to five approved mobile phones to the car’s own in-car telephone system. The car will then recognise and store the phonebooks, last number dialled lists and call stacks for every device it is paired with.

The entire XJ range carries further intuitive technologies that enhance the driving experience. Many of the car’s main features can be controlled through JaguarVoice, a simple but highly effective voice command function.

Other driver aids include Adaptive Cruise Control which uses microwave radar technology to detect slower cars ahead and adjusts the cruise control speed to maintain a constant distance from the vehicle in front.

Advanced, state-of the-art safety features, such as Adaptive Restraint Technology System use ultrasonic technology to calculate appropriate airbag deployment and force, based on passenger weight and position. Side-curtain airbags, front seat thorax airbags and energy-absorbent front seat backrests ensure a safe driving experience for all occupants.

The essence of the marque: Lamborghini Revent0n

Written by admin on 3:37 PM

Automobili Lamborghini presents the new Lamborghini Reventon at the Frankfurt Motorshow 2007

The essence of the marque: just 20 examples of a design masterpiece

Clearly a Lamborghini, but nothing quite like it. A super car without equals: the Lamborghini Reventon is a road vehicle with an extreme specification and, at the same time, a limited edition masterpiece – a coherent style, angular with sharp lines, inspired by the very latest aeronautics.

With just 20 produced, each 1 Million Euro (without taxes) Lamborghini Reventon
is a symbol of extreme exclusivity, yet still offering the extraordinary performance that makes the Reventуn so unrivalled: under the completely autonomous design, the Reventon possesses the entire technical and dynamic competence of the twelve cylinder Lamborghini.

Lamborghini prides itself on being the extraordinary manufacturer of extreme super sports cars without compromise. Sensuality and provocation characterise every Lamborghini, with an aggressively innovative style. “However, the Reventуn is the most extreme of all, a true automotive superlative. Our designers at the Lamborghini Style Centre took the technical base of the Murciйlago LP640 and compressed and intensified its DNA, its genetic code,” affirms Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A.

Born in Sant’Agata Bolognese
The Lamborghini Reventon has been entirely designed in Sant’Agata Bolognese, the original birthplace of the Lamborghini and the native home of every super car born under the sign of the bull. The design drawn up in Lamborghini’s Centro Stile (Style Centre) is fine-tuned in close collaboration with the Lamborghini Research and Development Department. Thus, the Reventуn is not only “haute couture” but it also stands out for its elevated dynamism whilst being entirely suitable for every day use.

The Lamborghini Reventon is not destined to remain a one-off. A total of 20 Lamborghini friends and collectors will be able to own this extraordinary car and, naturally, enjoy the incomparable pleasure of driving it.

The name Reventon has been chosen according to Lamborghini tradition. Reventуn was a fighting bull, owned by the Don Rodriguez family. It is included in the list of the most famous bulls ever and is known for killing the famed bullfighter Felix Guzman in 1943.

Inspired by the fastest airplanes
The present day Lamborghini models are distinguished by the clear language of their shape. The coherent proportions of the Murciйlago and Gallardo highlight their power and dynamism. Sharp edges, precise lines and clean surfaces: these are ingredients of a style reduced to the essential. Each element is created exactly according to its function; ornaments and decorations are totally foreign to a Lamborghini.

With the Reventуn the Centro Stile designers have coherently developed this philosophy, inspired by another sphere where speed and dynamism reign absolute: modern aeronautics, responsible for the fastest and most agile airplanes in the world. This has created an extremely precise, technically striking style with a new vitality: interrupted lines and contorted surfaces create a fascinating play of light, giving the car incredible movement.

Made of carbon fibre and precision
Although it is based on the extraordinarily successful Murcilago LP640, the exterior design of the Reventуn is completely new. Just like the base model, the exterior is made of CFC, a composite carbon fibre material, which is as stable as it is light. The exterior components are glued and fixed to the body comprised of CFC and steel.

The front is characterised by the acute angle of the central ‘arrow’ and by the powerful forward-facing air intakes. Although they do not supply air directly to the turbine like an airplane, bearing in mind the 650 hp, an abundant volume of air is necessary to cool the carbon brake disks and the six cylinder callipers.

Characterised by coherent functions
Naturally, both doors on the Reventon open upwards – since the legendary Countach this has also been a symbol of the V12 Lamborghini product line. With their asymmetric configuration, the large air intakes below the doors provide an example of the extreme coherence with which a Lamborghini fulfils its function: on the driver's side it is large to increase the flow of oil to the radiator. On the passenger’s side of the vehicle, the air intake is flat because in this case, it only has to ensure the flow below the floor. The aerodynamically optimised flat floor structure terminates at the rear with a diffuser featuring an accentuated shape. This guarantees excellent road grip and stability even at 340 km per hour.

In spite of the extreme and innovative language of its shape, the Reventon not only maintains all the strong features of the Murciйlago LP640, but also offers further amelioration in terms of aerodynamics, the important engine cooling system, the air intake system and brakes. The airflow and the section of the variable geometry air intakes of the engine and the rear spoiler (also adjustable) have been modified.

Owners of the 20 examples will be able to test the performance of his or her Lamborghini in person.

Perfected to the ultimate detail
The engine hood made of glass laminate with open ventilation slits offers a glimpse of the beating heart of the twelve cylinders of the super car. The glass also features the marked arrow angle that characterises the design from the front to the rear spoiler. The Lamborghini designers’ love for detail is beautifully illustrated by the fuel tank lid: a small mechanical work of art, achieved by milling a solid aluminium block.

The combination lights transform the incisiveness of the design into light: the front features the most modern light-emitting diodes alongside Bi-Xenon headlights. Seven LEDs ensure continuous daylight while there are a further nine diodes for the indicator and hazard lights. Another technical innovation is found in the rear light LEDs. Because of the high temperature in the rear low part of the car, special heatproof LEDs are used for the indicator and hazard lights, stoplights and rear lights with a triple arrow optical effect.

A new body colour
Naturally, such a refined language of shape also demands an extraordinary colour. For the 20 examples of the Reventon , the designers from Sant’Agata Bolognese have created a totally new hue: Reventon, a mid opaque green/grey without the usual shine. However, thanks to the metallic particles, in the daylight this colour tone features surprising depth.

Opaque and brilliant colours for the wheel rims
This play of opaque and lustre is also featured on the wheel rims, especially created for the Reventуn. Opaque carbon fins are screwed onto the black aluminium spokes, not only creating a visual effect with the precision of a surgeon’s scalpel, but a turbine effect also ensures optimum cooling for the powerful ceramic brake disks.

TFT display similar to an airplane
The same innovative force applied to the exterior design characterises the cockpit of the Reventon. Designed and created using Alcantara, carbon, aluminium and leather that comply with the top quality standards, the interior is inspired by the next generation cockpits: just like in modern airplanes, the instruments comprise three TFT liquid crystal displays with innovative display modes. At the touch of a button, the driver can choose from two vehicle information display modes. The instruments are housed in a structure milled from a solid aluminium block, protected by a carbon fibre casing.

The G-Force-Meter is also completely new: this display shows the dynamic drive forces, longitudinal acceleration during acceleration and braking, as well as transversal acceleration around bends. These forces are represented by the movement of an indicator on a graduated 3D grid depending on the direction and intensity of the acceleration. A similar instrument can be found in the airplanes. Formula One teams also use a similar device to analyse dynamic forces.

Customisable instruments
The instrument on the left of the speedometer associates the number of revolutions in the form of a luminous column with the display of the selected gear. Finally, every Reventуn is equipped with a robotised e.gear controlled by two small levers under the steering wheel.

By simply pressing a button, the driver can switch to the second, quasi-analogical display, where the classic circular instruments, speedometer and engine speed indicator are configured in an equally innovative way and transformed into luminous pilot lamps with varying colours. The G-Force-Meter naturally remains at the centre in this display mode.

Electronic system developed entirely by Lamborghini
All this is possible thanks to the fact that the entire electronic platform of the Reventon, together with all the control devices, has been autonomously developed by the Lamborghini experts.

The same process for integrating the electronic displays in the car was applied to the Lamborghini Engineering Department.

From the conception of the very first radical ideas, the entire Reventon has been developed in Sant’Agata Bolognese thanks to tight teams of remarkably creative experts. An extremely refined and efficient process was employed: CAD design and development, creation of the prototype in the Prototype Department, all carried out under the constant supervision of the Research and Development Department’s technicians and testers.

Atelier of creativity and high efficiency
Inaugurated in 2004, the Centro Stile is dedicated to design and characterised by a high degree of efficiency: an “atelier” of creators, designers and prototype constructors, who encapsulate the Lamborghini culture and spirit by using their remarkable skills to create aesthetic innovation.

The Centro Stile is located in a 2,900 square two-storey building. The large pavilion houses two test floors and related production and analysis equipment, while other rooms are set aside for the most advanced computerised workstations for designers and a style-model construction workshop. The Centro Stile is also closely linked to the nearby Engineering Department: the direct line between the Lamborghini development departments guarantees that ideas rapidly become reality.

Creativity and production under the same roof
The Lamborghini Reventon is a practical illustration of the streamlined functionality and efficiency characterising the Centro Stile: it took less than a year to progress from the first ideas to the finished car. The complete design process from the first sketches on paper, to three dimensional computer models with 1:10 or 1:4 scale, right up to the real size prototype is organised around streamlined, fast, efficient work groups. Thanks to the Centro Stile, for the first time in its history, Lamborghini is now able to create its own style philosophy in-house without having to rely on any external collaboration.

The 20 units will be manufactured in Sant’Agata, using a production process characterised by artisan perfection and rigorous quality standards.
A masterpiece with tested technology

The technology found in the Murciйlago LP640 has not been modified. The engine in the LP640 forwards is the classic twelve-cylinder engine with 6.5 litre displacement. Only for this car, Lamborghini guarantees, an astounding 650 HP (478 kW) at 8,000 revolutions per minute (rpm). The huge torque, equal to maximum 660 Nm, ensures a powerful switch from any number of revolutions: even the slightest pressure on the accelerator is spontaneously transformed into thrust. The robotised e.gear changes gear faster than even the most expert driver. In addition, the permanent Viscous Traction four-wheel drive system ensures that every force is constantly translated into movement.

As in the original Murciйlago LP640, the Reventуn accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds, with a maximum speed over 340 km/h.

Born to become a legend
Since its foundation, Lamborghini has been a creator of trends in the world of sports cars and has always manufactured cars with an absolutely unmistakable character. Models such as the Miura or Countach, for example, were veritable forerunners and rapidly acquired the status of timeless classic cars. From the moment they are launched, every new Lamborghini promises to become a legend, destined to become a sought-after and precious possession.

With the Lamborghini Reventon, Lamborghini has done it again; it has created an unequalled super car; the perfect synthesis between the exclusivity and appeal of a limited edition design masterpiece, and the dynamism and driveability of a standard sports car. Thus, the Lamborghini legend is further enhanced by another, stylish future classic.

Geneva premiere: The Audi Q7 coastline

Written by admin on 7:20 AM

Audi is presenting a very special concept car at the Geneva Motor Show: The Audi Q7 coastline combines the breathtaking power of a twelve-cylinder TDI with the elegant style of an exclusive yacht. A large part of the highperformance SUV’s exterior and interior is bathed in a trendy white. Under the hood resides the world’s strongest diesel engine in a series-production vehicle – the six-liter V12 capable of delivering 368 kW (500 hp) of power. The Audi Q7 coastline comes in Inuit, a special white that creates a pearl effect reminiscent of the glistening luminance of the polar region. Audi, the leading brand in automotive design, initiated a popular trend with this color years ago – studies such as the white Shooting Brake Concept displayed at the Geneva Motor Show 2006 have become style-setters.

In contrast to the production version of the Q7 V12 TDI, the casing for the exterior mirrors on the Audi Q7 coastline is white as well; the single-frame radiator grill and the side air intake slots come in dark High Gloss Steel. The Audi Q7 coastline has the same body modifications as the Audi Q7 V12 TDI, with widened wheel arches and striking front and back bumpers that immediately catch the eye.

The equally stylish and trendy interior is dominated by alabaster white, a color popular on luxury yachts. Also in luminous white are the carpet, embroidered floor mats made of fine wool, pillar trim, roof lining, seat upholstery made of plush velvet and Valcona leather, seatbelts, steering wheel, the front of the cockpit and the door trim. The majority of the switches and controls as well as the instrument panel with cowl are likewise in this trendy color from Audi.

In the interior, additional accents are set by aluminum elements on components such as the air inlet nozzles and door handles. Further trendy touches include nut brown piping on the seats as well as fine brown piping on the instrument panel and the door. Parts of the armrest, the gearshift lever knob and the inner door sill trims are made of American walnut veneer in which thin strips made of dark smoked oak wood have been embedded as a further maritime reference. The same combination can also be found on the floor of the luggage compartment, which contains two integrated folding boxes. The wood is waxed, not varnished. As a result, the pores in the wood remain open, giving it a uniquely charming feel and silky glow.

Concentrated power and high efficiency: 368 kW (500 hp) and 1,000 Nm (757.56 lb-ft)
Under the hood of the Audi Q7 coastline concept car resides a concentrated powerhouse: The V12 TDI is writing a whole new chapter in the annals of diesel technology. Drawing on 5,934 cm3 of displacement, the six-liter engine delivers 368 kW (500 hp) of power and an impressive 1,000 Nm (757.56 lb-ft) of torque between 1,750 and 3,000 rpm. As a result, the vehicle performs like a world-class sportscar – sprinting from zero to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) in just 5.5 seconds with an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h (155.34 mph). On average, the world’s only 12-cylinder diesel engine in a passenger car uses just 11.9 liters of fuel per 100 km (19.77 mpg) – a much better figure than comparable gasoline engines from competitors.

The unique diesel power of the Audi Q7 with V12 TDI engine is not the only factor to render it the ultimate high-performance SUV. Equally sporty in nature are the vehicle’s six-speed tiptronic and quattro drive as well as running gear with adaptive air suspension. Behind the large wheels are ceramic brake disks. A DVD navigation system, a Bang & Olufsen Advanced Sound System and leather seats with electric heating and adjustment switches are symptomatic of the luxurious standards in the Audi Q7 coastline.

AC Schnitzer BMW X5 Falcon

Written by admin on 2:50 AM

The falcon has always been a born fighter, the bird of warriors and a status symbol of the mighty and powerful. The peregrine falcon, with a dive speed of more than 200 km/h, is the fastest bird in the world. With its broad "wings" the AC Schnitzer BMW X5 Falcon also presents a majestic aura. The new widening kit for the front and rear wings perfectly harmonises with the existing accessory range.

While other cars rely on puffed-up looks the AC Schnitzer BMW X5 Falcon has a lot of power under the hardened plumage: the 3.0 litre diesel engine, which as standard delivers 210 kW and 286 HP, has been electronically upgraded by AC Schnitzer to give an impressive 228 kW/310 HP. The maximum torque has also risen from 580 to 680 Nm.

Behind the perfectly integrated, chromed tailpipe trims in "Racing" style - in the form of a horizontal figure of eight - lies the sonorous exhaust system with two sports rear silencers of V2A special steel.

Suspension Technology

With subtle lowering thanks to the new suspension kit, AC Schnitzer has given the BMW X5 Falcon impressive manoeuvrability of a level which is scarcely believable from such a mighty vehicle. Just like its natural namesake, famous for being able to change its direction in flight in a flash. So it's no surprise that the elegant falcon has virtually no natural predators.

Body Work

The new widening kit for the front and rear wings - as already mentioned - perfectly harmonises with the existing accessory range from the Aachen-based tuner.

Especially in combination with the front skirt element with its spoiler corners and indicated drive-under protection, at first sight it gives the SUV the supremely confident aura of the fighter.

The image of the "bird of prey" has been further emphasised by Designer Michele Viandante by the two triangular metal-rimmed air intakes in the bonnet.

And faced with the imposing rear end, who would dare to get too close to the AC Schnitzer BMW X5 Falcon? With its strong contours, the AC Schnitzer spoiler skirt has a muscular, masculine appearance.

Interior

The occupants of the AC Schnitzer BMW X5 Falcon however notice the performance from a different aspect. The interior range from AC Schnitzer includes not only a 3-spoke sports airbag steering wheel and aluminium pedal set, but also numerous decor elements in carbon or aluminium.

The Aachen-based tuner has even designed a new i-Drive controller. In the end, AC Schnitzer always has an eye for attractive details.
